This is a design we made for a local client. He wanted a flexible carport in his garden so he could use it as a pergola but also as extension of his terrace or as a barn for storage. We designed a basic steel frame which resembles a classic temple-like structure . Within this frame different ways of filling the façade is possible, for example sliding doors or filling it open or closed with wooden panels according to budget. In the nearby future the steel structure can be extended to the backside of the house, which creates a verandah as an extension of the living room. Roof lights can be freely inserted within the joisting.

Rémi Gaillard is notorious because of his pranks. YouTube videos like Mario Kart, War and Le tour de n’importe qui are simply hilarious. He mocks the world as a real-life theatre. His latest video on YouTube shows him wearing a t-shirt with his motto C’est en faisant n’importe quoi qu’on devient n’importe qui in Montpellier France. He takes it off and throws it to an imaginary friend in Paris. We hear the sounds of Daft Punk’s song Around the world and we start travelling around the world watching different people dance in different places wearing the same t-shirt.
Is there any better way to celebrate different cultures around the same world?
TPB AFK is a recent documentary about The Pirate Bay lawsuit in 2010. The Pirate Bay created by Fredrik Neij, Gottfrid Svartholm and Peter Sunde – was for a decade the biggest internet sharing network in the world. They were found guilty of assistance to copyright infringement. You can say a lot of different things about this verdict – but it definitely means the dead of internet as a 100% free and democratised network for sharing information. Although the establishment and shareholders of copyrights – i.e. representatives of jurisdiction, industry and government – barely get a grip on the three Pirate Bay administrators they are crimininalized while their only interest is the technological challenge of making The Pirate Bay as big as possible.
Today we visited the location of a new project nearby Broek in Waterland. Paperspace Company is asked to design and help realize a new family residence with guest house. The sun appeared in the shire so to speak (gouw in Dutch), as many streets here are named likewise. In the south you see the skyline of Amsterdam – a short (home)video to illustrate (Dutch only).
Some great buildings are made of bricks. For years bricks have been a solid investment. Sadly thought, this is no longer self-evident today.
The other day I saw an ad of a company selling and dealing gold. The ad showed a brick wall: some of these bricks were replaced by golden bars. The ad stated: ‘For years real estate is losing its value, gold is a solid foundation for your capital.’
Inadvertently I imagined my responds to a client asking me about the appropriate type of bricks: ‘Maybe we should try golden bricks for a change!’
Onlangs kwam ik op de Mariaplaats in Utrecht een reclamebord tegen met een poster namens de Volkskrant: Goed Volk kan tegen een grapje.
De Volkskrant is van oorsprong Rooms-katholiek en sinds mei ’68 spreekbuis van de babyboomers: de naoorlogse generatie die sociale en individuele vrijheid predikt met de Parijse studentenrellen in mei ’68 als ideologisch ankerpunt.
Ik ben een kind van die babyboom-generatie en ik ben opgegroeid met de Volkskrant op de ontbijttafel. Ik vond de Volkskrant – toen al – vooringenomen, maar ik moet toegeven CaMu en Bril las ik met plezier. Goed Volk verwijst in Brabant naar een gevleugelde uitspraak bij aankomst van visite: slim bedacht van KesselsKramer. Maar in feite staat er: wij – de redactie van de Volkskrant – bedenken wel wat goed voor u is!
Op een prachtige ochtend nabij het Utrechts Conservatorium…
… zag een argeloze fietser een reclamebord en hij realiseerde zich dat zijn generatie – de baby’s van de babyboomers – opgescheept zit met de economische puinhoop van het o zo goede volk met de idealen van mei ’68. “Was het maar een grapje”, mijmerde hij en fietste snel verder.
